A group of European urologist who are interested in laparoscopy reviewed the published literature to create a guide for this sub specialization. While reviewing a certain laparoscopic procedure as an alternative to an open procedure, it is essential to specify that evidences that support an open procedure application which was accepted and became valid in time may be less. Therefore, this group brought a new quality Standard. Even though lack of first level evidence and A class suggestions, Laparoscopy Study Group of European Study Group believes that laparoscopy has an important role in urology. In fact, laparoscopy is a surgical area that makes progress continuously in terms of technological and methodological approach. This means that we face with procedures that is worth to evaluate.
In this guide, “laparoscopy” term was used to define any kind of surgical technique that is performed in a closed area by enlarging or creating inner or outer of peritoneum.
